Kerala, a state rich in natural beauty, culture, and tranquil backwaters, has always piqued Amiley's interest. When the chance to travel to Kerala for five days in 2024 presented itself, she and her friends jumped at the chance, planning a luxurious and adventurous vacation.
After a flawless arrival at Cochin International
Airport, their journey got underway with the promise of an amazing journey and
the pleasant tropical air. They were picked up in a chauffeur-driven vehicle
from the airport and transported to their opulent five-star hotel in Kochi,
which was perched amid verdant gardens with a view of the Arabian Sea.
The hotel itself was a haven of luxury and comfort,
with well-appointed rooms, first-rate amenities, and first-rate service. Amiley
and her companions quickly became comfortable and enjoyed the atmosphere of
their lavish surroundings.
They spent their first day in Kerala touring Kochi, a
city where the past and present coexist together. When they went to Fort Kochi,
they were astounded by the old Chinese fishing nets that were scattered over
the shore. With its centuries-old splendor, St. Francis Church gave them a
window into the history of colonization in the area.
Evenings were meant to be spent lounging and treating
yourself. They enjoyed delicious Kerala food that highlighted the area's rich
culinary legacy while dining at the hotel's fine dining establishment. From
aromatic seafood curries to crunchy appams served with creamy coconut milk,
every meal was a culinary joy.
They visited the charming hill station of Munnar on
the second day, which is well-known for its expansive tea plantations and foggy
mountains. With endless stretches of lush tea gardens all around, their lodge
in Munnar was a haven of peace. During their days, they took in the expansive views
of the Western Ghats while touring the tea farms and learning about the
elaborate process of cultivating tea. They also relished freshly made cups of
tea.
A peaceful houseboat excursion through Alleppey's
backwaters on the third day of their journey was one of its highlights. They
boarded a traditional kettuvallam and sailed by charming villages and tiny
canals surrounded by swaying palms. They watched as the boat's soft beat lulled
them into a delightful state of relaxation as they cruised by rice fields and
saw daily life go by by the rivers.
Their onboard chef cooked delicious Keralan meals
while they spent the nights under a starry sky on the houseboat. They were
enthralled with the surrounding natural beauty as they drifted down the
peaceful backwaters.
As they said goodbye to this magical country, their
final day in Kerala was spent with mixed emotions. They made a final visit at a
local coir-making facility before returning to the airport, where knowledgeable
craftspeople showcased the age-old process of weaving coir ropes from coconut
husks—a tradition that is firmly ingrained in Kerala's cultural legacy.
Amiley and her
friends had wonderful memories of Kerala with them when they boarded their
journey home, including the stunning scenery, opulent lodging, delectable food,
and the friendly hospitality of everyone they met. Their expectations had been
surpassed by Kerala, and they were eager to return and discover more of its
beauties in the future.
